There’s something about a dandelion. I know many folks hate them, and I admit a yard over-run by them can be…intimidating. But a single beautiful dandelion seedhead…. I seem to have a number of dandelion poems. Here are two from two 2019 picture books, Snowman-Cold=Puddle and Lion of the Sky.
The riddle-ku on the left is a bit hard to read. It says:
my fluffy seeds drift
tiny puffs lift in the breeze
and land…who knows where?
Also, here are some fun dandelion crafts for your storytime or classroom, and here’s a lovely downloadable coloring sheet/saying! Make a wish and have some fun.
[My Classroom Connections posts will share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]

My grandson loves the Snowman book. I just started a file folder on my computer for saving things to do with my grands. Yesterday Leo told me “chi-cur” because he wanted to color a picture. Thanks!
Thanks, Margaret! You are such an awesome grandmom ????
Laura, thank you for these wonderful poems. When we lived in Germany, of all places (we were stationed there with the Army), I met someone who had never seen a dandelion. I called it a “weed,” and she asked me why. I’m happy to say that got me thinking, and I love them to this day.
Thanks, Tim. Isn’t it wonderful when something changes our perspective suddenly?
It is, indeed!
I love this page of dandelion puffs and printed the coloring page for Sierra. She loves craft projects.
Aw, thanks, Carol!
