Happy National Poetry Month, and Happy Easter if you celebrate Easter! I’m keeping things simple this year, because life is complicated (with moves, travel, work–mostly good stuff, just…complicated). In years past, I’ve done daily poems with unified visual elements, because I do love that. This year, though, I’m focusing just on words. The power of words. Which I believe in strongly. Each day, I will post a haiku (probably American-style 5–7‑5) written the day before. I might share them as pictures of hand-written haiku, but nothing fancy.
I’ll also share them on Twitter and Facebook, so feel free to use the social media icons at the top of this page to connect with me there, if we aren’t already connected.
Some days, I might have a second post or additional stuff with the haiku because of other commitments, like the Progressive Poem, my Meet My Family Blog Tour, or 15 Words or Less. Mostly, though, it will simply be haiku. I hope some of them will speak to you.
Here’s today’s haiku:

As ever I look forward to reading your words, Laura. Ah, moving. I adore Haiku.
Such optimism and invitation in that final line!
I love the possibilities this poem presents. Happy Easter, Laura, and happy haikuing!
You, too, Catherine–thanks!
I’m writing haiku, too, Laura, but will vary it in connected forms. I love your idea of using a word from your calendar. Today it is time to celebrate that “door swings open”. Lovely!
Ooh, can’t wait to see what you’re doing!
A perfect Haiku to start the month!
Oh, what a lovely invitation!
Happy Easter Laura — It’s cold, so I feel like spring is April Foolin’ with us! I love your first day of the month Haiku.
An inviting way to start!
