Like most everybody else, I’m experiencing lots of upheavals lately! I have no huge National Poetry Month plans–just hoping to share an imagepoem here each day (or as often as I can). I’m participating in Laura Shovan’s awesome #WaterPoemProject the best I can, so most of my poems will come from either that or from the PAD (Poem A Day) Challenge at Writers Digest. Grateful for the distraction of poetry and friends!
Here’s today’s. I grew up in Florida and swam everywhere. I have a healthy fear of alligators, and they were one thing I was thrilled to leave behind when we moved to Minnesota!

I saw those pictures on Kat’s site, remember a friend whose brother had to scout his backyard for gators before he could let their little dog out — yikes! Love the implication of ‘liquid kingdom”, Laura — ah, yes! And “I wait” — scary! Wishing you a lovely April despite the challenges.
Ooh, I didn’t see Kat’s pics. Will check ’em out! Thanks 🙂
I love this. Your choice of words made me shiver. Beautiful!
Ooh, your words and first person point of view really capture the alligator. Your ending, I wait, is chilling. I agree poetry is a great distraction. When my parents moved to Florida for the winters, I learned a lot about alligators. They are definitely an animal to fear and I think an amazing creature, also.
