Hi, poetry friends! It’s the final stretch of Poetry Month! I actually took this walk and wrote this poem Saturday morning, but I had other poems to share the past couple of days. I’m writing LOTS of poetry this month–how about you? (And teachers, I added a bunch of single-poem #readalouds to my readalouds page!) Here’s today’s simple list poem about the simple pleasures of that walk:>)

I love your poem about taking a walk. So beautiful. I have written 10 haiku poems this month. They are challenging and fun to do. I’ll share two with you. The second one was inspired from thinking about process of writing haiku.
After a Long Migration
The phoebe’s tail flicks
up, down, on the deck with joy
announcing, “I’m here!”

gaze at the vast blue water
pluck one water drop.

Diana–great to see your name here. I love your haiku. That second one particularly captures the feeling/challenge!
And, for a while, the time seemed to pass not quite so slowly.
And, it looked like life was doable.
And, around me, others were reassured by my smile, as they returned it.
And, I thought, “Okay, then. There are worse things than this life. I don’t like it, but I will be fine.”
Whew.
Yes! Thank you for crawling inside my head 😀
