Y’all might know that I love thunderstorms and rain. Today for National Poetry Month, I’m sharing one more rain sticky note poem (I shared two earlier this week here and here) AND a cover reveal! I have a picture book coming out in spring of 2023, and Elly MacKay is creating the absolutely stunning art for it. Here’s the gorgeous cover, which I saw for the first time last Friday, and I haven’t stopped smiling about it since.
And this is my final poem from the thunderstorm last week. It’s a deeper wisdom poem. You can read about this form here and see a rule-following one that I wrote here. In this one, I didn’t really follow the rules :>)
Thanks for reading, and happy National Poetry Month! And if you ended up here by chance, fantastic! Here are a few links you might find helpful.

A clap-worthy cover! Looking forward to reading your new baby.
Ooh, lovely cover! Congratulations!
Love reading how you killed the darling line. 🙂
It was tough! Only made easier because I’m looking at these daily jottings as practice, not “real” poems.
Yes, gorgeous cover and exciting book, I’m looking forward to it Laura, congrats!!!
Golly, I love this rain thinking. And what a cover! So many congratulations, Laura. I, too, love the drama of a storm. xo
Gorgeous cover, and congratulations to you, Laura! I’m generally not a fan of most poetic dancing moments, but this one really works, and I kind of like the proverbial feel of that line: “make like a raindrop and dance where you land!”
