Today’s #wonderbreak [Want to learn more or join in?] celebrates the joy of petting a dog. Our beagle, Jack, is kind of barrel-chested. His ribs rise and fall excessively (it seems) when he is sleeping or very relaxed. I couldn’t get a pic that would work of him actually on my lap, but he was happy to pose while I wrote this poem. And it really should be A Dog ON My Lap. Oh well.

I often hold my dog, Charlie, on my lap. He breathes heavily and snores when he’s relaxed. Love the picture of Jack and the use of the ocean metaphor.
Best poem I’ve read in ages. I should read ot to my dog ????
Thanks, Catherine!
It’s sweet and we can pretend, Laura.
