Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
Since yesterday’s 15 Words or Less post was about the Hello/Goodbye doormat, I thought I’d share my “Goodbye, Hello!” poem again, which I was proud to have appear in Highlights last year:
Goodbye, Hello!
Goodbye, blue sky
Hello, walls
Goodbye, sidewalks
Hello, halls
Goodbye, seesaw
Hello, seat
Goodbye, messy
Hello, neat…

I remember seeing this! Congrats, Laura.
Thanks, Matt!
Love it, especially “Goodbye lonely/Hello us’.
Thanks, Sally!
Such a fun unexpected take, Laura — I remember it from before! My youngest son gets bored by the second week of summer, and while it is not books that charge him up again (he hates to read, but he’s a people watcher, so school gives him lots of material!), I had to smile at those lines today. Thank you! xo
Thank you, Irene. I liked summer for about a month when I was a kid, and then I wanted school back:>)
Good bye sloth, hello Poetry Friday post.
Fun poem, Laura. I missed this in Highlights. Fun illustration. Glad to read it here. Well done.
Thanks, Joy. I’m finally getting my slothful self back into Poetry Friday and my blog in general! Highlights really made the poem feel like a party:>)
A delightful poem from my 2015 magazine merit award companion! In my house, we’re living the teen angst version. 😉 Thanks for the lovely things you said about my blog, Laura. xo
Heehee–I remember the teen angst version. Whole different poem! Your blog is a gift, Michelle!
Nice contrast poem and so true! Nice display in Highlights!!!
Thanks, Donna!
Wonderful. Every word.
Thank you, Linda!
Love this poem, Laura! I especially like the lines “Goodbye, boredom / Hello, books” — so true! =)
Aw, thanks, Bridget! That’s probably my favorite set of phrases!
Yep! That’s exactly how a new school year feels! Wonderful!
Thanks, Linda. I always loved the start of the new year:>)
Wonderful poem. Every word is perfect. Congrats.
Thanks, Brenda!
I love this. So much is so few words!
Thanks, Dori!
