It’s our daughter Maddie’s 21st birthday today, and I want to share a poem again that I wrote a couple of years ago, when she was first heading overseas to learn about missions work. A few weeks ago, we once again made the teary airport trek to say goodbye. But during her month at home, I got a close-up view of how much she’s grown this past year (we didn’t see her for an entire year!) while working on social justice issues overseas. This poem really needs updating now! But, I thought I’d share it again, with wishes for a wonderful birthday for a wonderful daughter!

Amazing what our “kids can be…”, isn’t it?? You deserve to be proud. Happy birthday, Maddie!
Heartfelt, Laura 🙂
It’s folks such as your dear Maddie (& our young adult in far-off Boston, Anna) who truly make my hubby & me feel hopeful for this ol’ World.
And congrats on 21 years of great parenting!
Such a lovely poem. Happy birthday to Maddie.
Beautiful way to celebrate your daughter. Thank you for the inspiration. Congratulations!
Lovely poem (and photo!) Happy birthday to Maddie.
Laura, I just love that photograph so much. Sheesh, it seems like Maddie was just, oh, about twelve last week. I’m so excited for her travels and full of good wishes and birthday blessings for her today as well. ♥
A belated happy birthday to Maddie! The photo goes so well with the poem — you do get the idea that she is going off on an adventure! Lots of love there.
