Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.) Whether you’re a regular or a new visitor, I’m glad you’re here!
Things are chaos at our place, as our younger daughter’s fiance just left after a 10-day visit, and my sister arrived from Florida with a couple of overlapping days. Lots of great times going on, but also–pulled in a million directions!
I just wanted to quickly share this lovely video! I posted before about choral composer Shruthi Rajasekar creating a choral work based on lines from some of my poems. This week, Shruthi posted a video on YouTube of the Royal Northern College of Music Chamber Choir and String Orchestra in their debut performance of the piece. Oh! How I love seeing what she created. So proud that my poems were a part of the process and the evolution of this gorgeous work. The text is on the video, and if you click the above link, too, you can read more about the process.
Thanks for watching!
And for lots of wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with thoughtful writer and poet Janice Scully at Salt City Verse.

How wonderful to see and hear this, Laura. Your words, the rhythm, the mood of celebration — all so special! I know you’ve been busy but also sounds like ‘fun’ busy! Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much for sharing the video, Laura! What a thrill it must be to hear your words honored in such a special way. Congratulations!
Laura, this video is amazing to listen to, with the singing, and percussion of the clapping along with your verse. You must be so proud to have your words used this way. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Laura, that is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing that beautiful creation.
So cool, Laura—a beautiful collaborative piece! Congratulations. 🙂
Laura, congratulations on being a part of a concert by composer, Shruthi Rajasekar, who creatied a choral work based on lines from your poems, I was so proud of you when I saw your name at the end of the recording. The blending of music, a choral choir, and your poem make for a wonderful artistic creation.
That’s just fantastic! Can you call that ekphrastic if it works the other direction and the poetry inspires more art?
Yes! :>D
Laura—this is absolutely stunning! Wow! What a wonderful performance. So moving!
Laura, what a GIFT — to you, but FROM you! Your words have become a chanted praise prayer! I LOVE this!!
