I’d Rather Stick With You #PoetryFriday

Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)

How is it possibly December? Yowza. Last week, Irene Latham shared a lovely gift guide post, pairing gift ideas with her books. Love that…and stealing the idea. Here are some of my books from the past year or two, along with a few ideas to pair them with. But first–my poem–or two! These are from In the Middle of the Night, gorgeously illustrated by Angela Matteson and published by Wordsong. The book has plenty of raucous fun in it, but also a few more thoughtful poems :>)

In the Middle of the Night
  • cute slipper socks (and for every pair bought, a pair is donated to a hospital patient)
  • a night light
  • monster spray (or even better, make your own!)
Lion of the Sky: Haiku for All Seasons
Snowman - Cold = Puddle: Spring Equations
Meet My Family
Secrets of the Loon

And for lots of wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with poet-teacher Mary Lee Hahn. She’s the keeper of our Poetry Friday schedule, an amazing teacher, and also a birthday girl!

AND…Monday night is my For Love or Money free writing salon with Molly Beth Griffin. Want to know what a writer earns (sadly, probably not nearly as much as you thought!) and what are some things to consider as you try to make a living as a writer? Join me!

  1. I love all your books, Laura, & In the Middle of the Night with all its imagined feelings. Thanks for the gift ideas, too. I need to get going with my gift list!

  2. This is a great way to advertise and suggest your books and the creations of others, Laura. It was an enjoyable read as well! Thank you for sharing. I spied a few things I might like myself! In the very least, I’ll be coming back to peruse your website more.…you offer so much to your readers! Thanks, again!

  3. Laura, each one of your books is matched with amazing gifts. I especially like the monster spray. There are many monsters lurking around during the pandemic. All of my picture books are packed away for my move this winter. I wish I had your books to keep me company but I will wait and bring them out to sit on my new study’s shelves.

  4. The perfect gift guide, Laura! Thank you for making holiday gift giving even easier. Gonna share your post with a couple of family members. 🙂

  5. Great pairings! Between your post and Irene’s, I’ve got holiday gifts covered!

  6. Oh, I wish I’d seen this list before I finished my Christmas shopping! I’ll keep it mind as birthdays roll around. All of your books make lovely gifts!

  7. Such great suggestions! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
