Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
I read Milo Imagines the World last week. It’s all about the assumptions we make about other people, and also about re-imagining the world for ourselves. This made me daydream about what would be an idyllic day, and I decided to do a poetryaction draft. (You can see all my poetryactions here.)
And for lots of wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with artist and poet Robyn Hood Black. She’s been moving (literally and figuratively) in so many directions lately. It’ll be good to hear what she’s up to :>)Save

I love “reading the light on the leaves.”
Yes, please! Donuts, chickadees…reading the light. It all sounds delicious.
I imagine sitting with you and chickadees chattering about the weather and nothing too important because we have each other.
Yes to all of it — donuts and chickadees and light on leaves.
Love that you sneaked in those donuts, Laura, for your idyllic day! And, like others, love “reading the light on the leaves”.
Lovely, Laura! That light on the leaves is inspiring. I imagine me…
underwater. xo
Ooh, being underwater is magical. :>)
“reading the light on the leaves” — swoon!
Yep, more swoon votes over here for “reading the light on the leaves” — magical! Thanks for the invitation to imagining today. :0)
The mountain chickadees have invaded the forest where I live. But they sing, “cheeseburger! cheeseburger!” — not donuts! ‑lol
Hehehe–they can sing whatever they want, but I’m still having donuts :>D
I love this book so much. It was amazing to read and reread it with my students, finding new meaning every time we did another pass. In honor of the storyline, “I imagine me riding a train and looking at those around me with gentle, loving eyes.”
I love that. Exactly what the book inspires…
I imagine me
slip-sliding through a portal
to an enchanted tropical
rain forest,
an abundance of birds,
an easel camouflaged,
and brushstrokes
becoming reality…
Thanks Laura for transporting me and my imagination—I’m Grateful for this escape. 💗 “reading the light on the leaves” and sharing with birds!”
Ooh, what a lovely and surreal scene, Michelle. Thank you!
I imagine me
spending my days
spreading poetry
and making people connect
with each other
and themselves.
Thanks for the prompt and for that line which we have all melted over :“reading the light on the leaves”
That’s lovely, Sally!
I’ve somehow missed this book! I imagine me in a windowed library, peeking out through book after book after book.
Yes! (And this is a really lovely book.)
Another book for the teetering TBR stack! Love the poetryaction poem, too, Laura.
