Here’s the “clumsy bug” from Wednesday’s #poemsketch that I showed the woman at the State Fair. I wrote it when I got home from a stressful walk one day last week. The Carolina locusts were everywhere! Flying into me. And I had on capri yoga pants, and they actually hit my leg. I was totally freaked out. Of course, it’s a little odd that I used the word “hurricane” in here, because as this publishes on Thursday night, I am on the beach in Florida are figuring out how Irma is going to affect the immediate future.
I am not online today, but Matt at Radio, Rhythm, and Rhyme has the Poetry Friday Roundup. Make sure to visit for more great poems! (And if anyone would be willing to add me to the linkup, I’d be grateful!)

Laura, stay safe first of all. I think your #poemsketch is charming. I hope you show this at #NCTE17. I liked your description of the incident that came prior to the sketch. Backstories are always so interesting. I think I would like to try a #poemsketch but I am not sure I could draw a representation as good as yours.
Locust flying everywhere…sounds biblical, then again so does this hurricane…Be safe!!
Oh, dear — I hope you can get out of the path in time.
We have nightly locust buzzing around here. I love the use of hurricane here. Rather appropriate. I hope you are well out of Florida by now.
Eeuw. And thanks. And nope. Our flight he is theoretically Tuesday. They just cxld all Monday flights, though, and we are not feeling confident about Tuesday.
Locusts on your legs?! Disturbing!! But a great topic for a poem.
Be safe.
