Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
I’m in Madison, Wisconsin, for a few days. Finding Family is an Honor selection for the Charlotte Zolotow Award, and I’m going for the ceremony. I’ll get to tour the CCBC, meet the committee, and see my niece, Lily, who’s in college there. Should be lovely!
On Wednesday, I shared a few reflections about what I learned or was reminded of from my April poetry practice. If you missed it, that post is here. The post also includes three magnipoems, so those will serve as my poems for this Poetry Friday!
I won’t be home to make the rounds this week, but thank you for stopping by, and don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with fabulous poet and nonfiction author, Buffy Silverman!

oooooooh, your website is blooming. So pretty! And, wowWEEEEEE for going to accept this award. Enjoy every moment. Can’t wait to see pics if you can share them. What a great list of learning moments from NPM. It’s good to see where your writing has been and think about where it can go and grow.
Enjoy the festivities this weekend, Laura!
Congratulations and enjoy the celebration!
Congratulations, Laura! May this trip nourish your creative spirit and bring inspiration for new projects. Cheering from Alabama! xo
Congratulations, Laura and have a wonderful trip. I enjoyed your magnipoems and the new look you gave to us readers of all the ordinary things. It would be a fun thing to do with students, too. Among the festivities, wishing you some nice relaxing times, too!
What a lovely honor, Laura! I enjoyed your magnipoems throughout the month. So clever. Have a wonderful weekend!
I loved your magnipoems, Laura. You inspire me to be a better poet! Thank you!
THANK you, Patricia–what a lovely compliment!
Thanks for linking back to your reflections post. I know that was valuable for you, but you also provided a good model for every writer. Have fun in Wisconsin — YAY YOU! — and stay strong through all the trials and tribulations.
Congratulations on that award, Laura! I’ve long admired the CCBC and its work.
Congratulations, Laura! Your sweet Finding Family book is finding its way in the world. I hope you enjoy your time with Lily.
Congratulations! So fun that you get to go to the ceremony and celebrate with family. I enjoyed your magnipoems.
