Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
First off–a big thanks for the Poetry Friday folks who attended the Moving Words library event I participated in last weekend. It was WONDERFUL to see familiar names in the attendees list and see your comments in the chat box :>) If anyone’s interested in watching the video replay, it’s at https://youtu.be/nXgql5PNWs4 While we aren’t specifically discussing poetry, I talk about the genesis of the rhyming bits of Clover Kitty Goes to Kittygarten, and Joyce Sidman talks about her beautiful forthcoming poetry collection, Hello, Earth! We each talk for about 10 minutes. I start around 17:00, and Joyce starts at around 30:00.
Now, back to my regular Poetry Friday post :>) I thought I’d share another of my poems from A World Full of Poems, the forthcoming anthology edited by Sylvia Vardell. I realized since my post a couple of weeks ago that I actually have three poems in the anthology–whee! Here’s one that appeared in the original Poetry Friday Anthology! Side by side with William Mackepeace Thackeray–not too shabby for my cuddly kitties ;>)
This anthology comes out from DK on October 6, and it’s available for pre-order now. Don’t miss it! Oh, and if anyone who has a poem in the anthology but doesn’t have a blog would like to share their poem here on my blog, just contact me. I’d love to feature someone else, but I don’t like to use other people’s poems from anthologies without their express permission.

Laura, thank you for sharing the video. I had tried to register for the Moving Words events, but the site wouldn’t let me. I look forward to watching! Your “Petting Zoo” poem is fun to read! Congratulations! I am honored to have a poem in the anthology too. I’ll be sharing it on my blog next week. Looking forward to getting a copy of this beautiful book!
I love your poem, just right for young ones to memorize, right? It’s going to be a wonderful new anthology!
Congratulations, Laura! Your poem has delightful textures and rhythms. ????
Not to shabby, indeed. 🙂 I always enjoy the cadence of your poems. They are so fun to read aloud.
What an honor to be side by side with Thackeray, Laura! I do love that the final note of your poems is a furry, squishy cuddle — exactly what the world (a zoo in its own right) needs right now. 🙂
Love these… the simplicity! Thanks for sharing, the book will be on my list.
Such a feel good poem and lovely company you are in, congrats Laura!

Laura, I really wanted to attend your event but there is too much happening here with trying to sell my house and build my VA home. I did listen to the video and really enjoyed your presentation. I am almost up to Joyce Sidman’s part also. Congratulations on having 3 of your poems added to the anthology, A World Full of Poems.
Thanks for listening, Carol–yes, you must be so busy! You’ll enjoy Joyce’s talk, though!
Thanks for sharing the video! I really enjoyed hearing about your kitty. I like your petting zoo poem too. Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
I can’t wait to get my copy of this book and see who my poem’s neighbor is! Love your petting zoo poem!
I am looking forward to getting this book. Congrats on your petting zoo poem.
