Just a quickie post today, as I’m off to present on a picture book panel at SLJ Day of Dialog–whee! Last fall, Alan J. Wright posted a poem called, “I Fail To See These Poems in Me.” It’s very funny–you should go read it! :>)
I was playing around one day last week and wrote my own version. It’s not quite as random and whimsical as Alan’s–maybe in revision. Mine came out in rhyme, and here’s my draft:
Thanks, Alan, for the inspiration! Kids would have so much fun with this idea! And for lots of wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with watercolorist-poet Michelle Kogan!

Such a fun free-wheeling poem, love all the smile-filled spots it makes, and plunging graphic too! I might have to try this one sometime, thanks Laura!
Fun, Laura! This would be a good prompt to try. Hope your presentation goes well.
Laura, it’s an interesting peek inside the poet’s brain, isn’t it?! I am not a fan of (sweltering!) August, but I do love that line! xo
What a fun poem with catchy rhymes! This would make a great prompt for writing. I’m with you on most things, especially bungee jumping.
I’m pretty sure we all have KRUMP on shelves-lol!! Nice work, Laura. Very fun.
Thanks for the smiles this week, Laura — loved reading your fun, whimsical poem. 🙂
