Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
Hello! I’m on my way to Washington, DC, for the annual ALA conference! I hope to maybe see a few of you there? I’m attending to take part in the Poetry Blast, an annual poetry celebration organized by Marilyn Singer and Barbara Genco. So, Saturday at 4 p.m., if you’re in the Convention Center, please make your way to the Pop Top Stage in the exhibit hall. There are many fantastic poets reading–I can’t wait to hear them.
One poem I’ll be sharing is this riddle-ku from the winter section of Lion of the Sky:
firelight from the past–
I wink in the frozen sky
waiting for wishes

And for lots of wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with the awesome teacher and creativity inspirer Linda Mitchell at A Word Edgewise!Save

oh, this is pretty! And, a great riddle. I want to work with these more…I need to get my copy of Lion in the Sky sooner rather than later. Have fun in DC. I can’t make this time…but, you will meet many, many of my library buddies. Enjoy and share lots of pics.
I love your poem, even if it did take me a while to figure out what your are poeming about. I sure wish I could be there for Poetry Blast. Hope you have a fabulous time. I’ll look forward to reading about it next weekend.
I was in the Poetry Blast last summer. Such fun! Have a great time at the conference. Wish I could be there to cheer you on.
Laura, hope you have a BLAST at ALA! May many more readers find LION OF THE SKY… xo
HA! A winter poem on this first day of summer!
It’s snowing in the mountains of Colorado too. So I guess we need this winter poem. I want to get hold of LION OF THE SKY.
Riddle-Ku — such fun. And my guess is Aurora Borealuis! I’m with Mary Lee — the juxtaposition of winter on 21 June is a kick! Happy happy #2019ALAPoetryBlast. Such lively poets to enjoy in 1 hour! Wish I could be there.
Oooh, I love the northern lights–but the answer to this one is just a star:>)
