Deborah Freedman’s By Mouse & Frog made me think about the old adage of opposites attract, and how so often kids are indeed friends with their own opposites (haven’t you ever wondered, “What does my kid SEE in that kid?”). This gave me the idea of a Venn diagram and how those two overlapping parts–the friendship–are made of both people. And it would pair perfectly with Rebecca Kai Dotlich’s charming Bella & Bean!

Laura,
By Mouse and Frog is a fun book. I like that your poem states that friendship makes something new from the best parts of each person. Two pluses for curriculum–you incorporated math/science and based this on an expression that students may not know. Polar opposites could also be introduced. Then you also included bookalikes. Lots was packed in here. Well done. You amaze me!
This is a wonderful friendship poem
I have not read By Mouse and Frog but it looks terrific. I love your poem. It makes me want to read the book. I love how you couple these books together. Wonderful idea.
