Oh, my goodness. My writers’ group, the Wordsmiths, met yesterday for our holiday gathering. The laughing! The food! The good advice! Hope you are all enjoying some holiday gatherings with your teacher colleagues and/or writing friends, too!
Please, Mr. Panda is a quirky little book! To be honest, I thought Mr. Panda was a bit of a cranky-pants, since he (spoiler alert) doesn’t even like donuts. Or maybe I just don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like donuts! But this cute picture book made me think about what a kid might be happy to give away, even if the recipient wasn’t very polite about it. So that’s what I wrote my poetryaction about. My daughter, niece, and nephew are all feeling the homework crush as winter break nears, so I’m sharing this one in honor of them:>)
I collect all of my poetryactions and bookalikes from my blog onto my Pinterest boards of poetryactions and bookalikes. So if you’d d like to see more, you can check them all out there!

This looks like a fun book — anything about donuts just has to be fun — right? And, who wouldn’t want to give away their homework?
Exactly!
Laura,
My husband recently had anesthesia and while he was in recovery he kept repeating, “Donuts!” Everyone laughed. I’m with you, it’s hard to imagine anyone who doesn’t like ’em. Glad you wrote this poem as a thumbs up for students and their homework/exams, etc.
That is too funny! Better than my daughter, who was convinced they’d removed the wrong teeth when she had her wisdom teeth removed. She kept crying :>(
