The phrase “stitching earth to sky with invisible thread” is my favorite part of this absolutely beautiful Helen Frost book, Sweep Up the Sun (follow-up to Step Gently Out, shown below). I took that image, that metaphor of a bird’s flight holding together the earth and sky as it swoops and stitches, and I made it just a little more literal in my poetryaction:>)
