Who could not love Bob Shea’s Ballet Cat and Sparkles the Pony? In The Totally Secret Secret, you will recognize real kid behavior and the negotiations of friendship. I can’t wait for the next one coming out in 2016. Anyway, I thought about the secrets we keep that we shouldn’t, the ones that reveal our true selves, like Sparkles’ secret, and I wrote my poetryaction about that.
Check out my Pinterest boards of poetryactions and bookalikes if you’d like to see more of either kidlit combo!

Laura,
When I read your poem, I thought of Humpty Dumpty. Isn’t it fun to see how our brains associate things?
It is! Life is a constant game of “telephone.”
I love this wonderful beginning and ending and true to life
Thanks, Jessica! Hope you’re feeling better.
Cute verse Laura, and so true. Food for thought… I wonder if more secrets would be kept secret if the bearer of the secret did not use the “make sure you don’t tell anyone, it’s top secret” line.
Probably. We tend to think everything’s more interesting if we’re not supposed to share it. We humans are so weird!
Hi Laura. It’s me again. I never received the “confirm” prompt so I must have erred. I’m sending this in hopes of correcting whatever.
Laura, when I read this little poem, I thought, “This could be the first line of a novel.” It made me wonder, who might the speaker be? What’s his or her story? I’ll have to check out The Totally Secret Secret.
Yeah, I keep trying to stay away from abstract and stick to concrete things in my poetryactions, but sometimes they come out as little…not epigrams, because they’re not witty, but more like philosophical meanderings. Bah! But it’s a fun book:>)
