Happy Poetry Friday! I’m sharing another poetryaction today. In this one, I just was intrigued by the monkey that’s pictured in much of the book, and I went off on a little tangent imagining how much trouble one monkey could make. So this is a poetryaction that does NOT summarize the book or plot, just responds to it in a different way, using my imagination.
The Poetry Friday Roundup is at Michelle Heidenrich Barnes’ Today’s Little Ditty. Have you written your zeno yet?

Like this little rhyme. It would be fun to work with kids to amke this a choral number, group action poem.
Yes! They could have fun being monkeys:>)

I like this is a fun poem all the things the chimp might get into before going back to sleep 🙂
The possibilities are endless!

This is adorable, Laura! The little monkey sounds like he’s a lot of fun. I love your “poetryaction!”
Thanks, Becky:>)

Sigh… the life of a chimp. I’m lucky to have lots of poetry play today, but where’s my hammock, I ask you?
Aw, you’re too busy for a hammock, anyway. And you’re too busy causing trouble;>)

What a fun, imaginative poem! It makes me want to find that book and discover what else happens, or doesn’t, in that gorgeously illustrated tree house.
Enjoy the book, Violet! It’s a rollicking adventure, even if it’s not really about the monkey:)

You said “ANOTHER” so I had to go wandering back through your archives to find more. What a fun way to respond to a book! (Note to self: must try, and then try with students.”
Thanks, Mary Lee. I just started sharing these, but I’ve got about 20 written. I plan to share one most days–they’re fun!

We should all “swing”, “dance”, and “squawk” a little more. The world could use happy monkey business. =)
True–and some hammock naps, too!

Love this poem, and the idea of responding to picture books with poems. What a great springboard (and way to remember the picture books you’re reading.)
Thank you, Buffy. It’s interesting so far, using them as poem-starters and book-ponderers at the same time:>)
