Recipe for a Song–and NCTE!

Poetry Friday logo by Linda Mitchell

Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)

How on earth is it Friday already? Eep!

I’m just re-sharing a few things today, as I’m immersed in prepping for some speaking engagements Monday as well as for NCTE.

First, I’m doing a webinar with SCBWI on Monday! Whee–more info here.

Second, here’s the front of this year’s NCTE postcard. It’s gotta have a poem–always. And third, here’s my NCTE schedule. Hope to see you there!

And for more wonderful poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with Karen Edmisten. Thank you for saying, “No overthinking allowed,” Karen. Takes the pressure off :>D

  1. Eggs the color of miracles and wings dipped in dawn — so beautiful, Laura. Have fun at NCTE. I will be sorely missing it again this year (I think that’s where I first met you). Enjoy!

  2. Looking forward to next week. This part of it all stresses me out, preparation, travel, leaving plans for my students, and all. Thanks for being such a huge support!

  3. Laura, I wish you well as you embark on your busy week. I hope another year I can attend NCTE but this year is not the time. “the color of miracles” is a magical line as are “wings dipped in dawn” and “a bowl of sunshine”. There is such hope in this poem so I send you off with your delightful spirit. Enjoy the week.

  4. What a cute post card idea! Have fun, my busy friend. I will imagine you and what the color of miracles might be. Lovely.

  5. Have a wonderful time doing your webinar, and at NCTE, a special week ahead. I love your Robin poem. There’s nothing tastier than “earthworm bits/and slivered crickets”, I’m sure! And if it cooks a robin, hurrah!

  6. Laura, what a beautiful poem! So many wonderful turns of phrase, right from the first line — Line a cup of nest. So fun! Good luck with all of your upcoming engagements.!

  7. Oh I LOVE those last two lines, Laura! AND the recipe-form/prompt… definitely will need to try this with the NEVERMORES.

  8. Laura, I am excited to see you next week. I’ll be an Authors are Real People with so many of my favorite other real people. I hope to meet you at your book signing too. A robin’s egg as “the color of miracles” is such a lovely thought. I agree.

    1. It’ll be lovely to see you in person, Denise. Big conferences are so stressful to me, but the seeing people in person is wonderful, too!

  9. Well, look at your fresh new blog outfit! Your postcard is lovely and I appreciate knowing where to find you–hee hee. “Serves: the sky.” <3

  10. Wishing you and everyone a fabulous time at NCTE! Your offerings sound wonderful and now I’m off to check out the SCBWI webinar. And btw, I LOVE your new site design! (It may only be new-ish at this point? I’m so far behind, eeek, and need to catch up with everyone. But, no overthinking allowed, right?) 😀 xo
