Theater [15 words or less poems]

Wake up your poetry brains with 15 Words or Less (guidelines here)!

15WOLs

The Gordon Lightfoot concert last month was at the beautiful State Theatre in Minneapolis. I always love looking at the architecture and embellishments inside. This (Waterlogued) picture is looking up at the ceiling.

This image makes me think of:

1) Cinderella’s carriage
2) a family Italian dinner (do you see the rigatoni or manicotti?)
3) a cheese grater (see it on the ceiling?)

And here’s my?first draft. I could not think of a single thing to write, so I wrote about that. Bleah.

It’s your turn! Have fun and stick to 15 WORDS OR LESS!??(Title doesn’t count toward word count:>) If you leave a poem in the comments, and if it’s 15 words or less, I’ll try to respond!

NOTE: I had a great time with my sister this past week, and I’m sad she has headed back to Florida. Thanks for all the good wishes!

    Never expected
    a second red planet
    with such a big heart.

    1. Did you watch Nova last night?
Really fascinating, all about the years the scientists worked on the Pluto project.

  7. I’ve experienced that “slippery tangle of nothing”, Laura. I like what you wrote despite your chagrin at having “nothing”.

  11. Golden rafters high
    Rap-tap echoed stage
    Overwhelming glory
    At so young an age

Dance recitals for us were held in a gorgeous old theater in our small town. I still remember my first time on that stage.

  15. Laura,
This poem must accompany those times when people say they’re not thinking of anything.

  17. A ROYAL DAY AT THE RACES

    Opulent velodrome
    of amber, cerise, and tangerine
    Fit for a velocipede
    ridden by the Queen

    Ellen Vojnovic

    1. I love this quirky image! And loved learning “velocipede,” which I didn’t know was the name of those things:>)

    2. Okay, now that I know what the words mean, I love it. I wonder if this queen ever “jousts” on her velocipede.

  19. I sit diminished
In a forever field of sunflowers,
Arching under their own weight above me,
    While shiny, black seeds
