Have you guys seen what ELA consultant Carol Varsalona does each season at Beyond LiteracyLink? She puts out a call for photopoems, gathers them all up, and then creates a gallery online of everyone’s photopoems! I know she puts a ton of time into each one of these. Her Summer Splashings gallery went live last week, and there are lots of fun, wonderful, beautiful poems from poets, teachers, bloggers, and more. Here’s mine:
I’ve been playing with photopoems a lot lately, and it’s always supercool to see what folks create for Carol’s galleries. I’ve done poems for the last couple, and I see names I recognize, like J. Patrick Lewis and Georgia Heard, and lots of people whom I’ve never heard of. It’s just a wonderful jumble of creativity from all over the world! (I can’t remember the rules about student work–hoping Carol will perhaps leave a comment here with a link to what the guidelines are for her galleries.) Wouldn’t this be an amazing project to do at school, though? A lovely addition to a school or classroom website–pick a theme and get your young artists/poets creating!
