Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
Such a busy time, and so much is going on! Randy had shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago, and his healing is going right on schedule. Which is to say, incredibly slowly. All is good, but I’m exhausted. As I sit here on Thursday morning, watching it snow outside, I’m taking a few deep breaths before the hectic day gets rolling.
I have lots of lovely things to share this week, but I’ll keep the words short.
Cover Reveal! Book coming in November 2025. Whee!
A quick radio interview about Line Leads the Way, libraries, imperfection, and bad puns. (Click image to listen–only 6 minutes.)
A newspaper review of Line Leads the Way–yay!
40 Poems for 40 Weeks is out and available to order. I’m SO proud to be in this fabulous professional resource for educators, edited by David Harrison and Tim Rasinski! (Click cover to learn more and order.)
Coming in April–another anthology I’m thrilled to be included in–project led by PF standout Matt Forrest Esenwine. (Click cover to learn more and pre-order.)
I have TWO gorgeous board books coming out March 4: When a Butterfly Goes to School and A Home Like This! (Click the covers to learn more/pre-order.)
Wow. That’s a lot, isn’t it? I’m so grateful for all these opportunities to spread book love with readers.
And here’s my poem, a throwback to my 15 Words or Less Poems era :>D Let’s fill children up with books!
For lots more wonderful poetry (a much-needed break and perspective at this time of year) don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with Jone Rush MacCulloch (who will always be Ms. Mac to me). <3
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! And joy and peace to everyone, no matter what you celebrate at this time of year. xoxo

Wow–congratulations on all the great book news! And I hope Randy’s healing continues.
So many new books! I can’t keep up. Shoulders, knees, all of those joints take time (and lots of therapy) to heal. Prayers for your patience and Randy’s. My students just got their shiny new books from the book fairies for Christmas. Some of them ordered new-to-them books and some ordered old favorites to sink back into. I love sharing book love.
You are a booklove-spreader extraordinaire–giving your students a gift that will keep growing throughout their lives. <3
I can’t wait for your new snow book! It looks wonderful!
Laura, what fun! I look forward to checking out your new books. Congrats on all your good news, and good wishes for shoulder rehab to your husband.
Such a great crop of book news, Laura! Absolutely heart warming! Thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you and Randy as he heals. Happy Winter Solstice and Merry Christmas! xo

Fantastic book news, Laura! WOOT!
My after-schoolers LOVED Line Leads the Way!
Happy Holidays!
Laura, lots of congrats to you, my friend. Everything looks fabulous. I listened to your interview-it was fun hearing your voice. Line Leads the Way seems to be a wonderful KidLit book. Best Wishes to Randy. “Libraries are lifesavers and we need to take care of them.”-Absolutely true!
There is so much goodness in this post. I have put the 40 poems book on my list. I definitely will be sharing it with my library students this coming term. And the cover of your new book is swoony.
