Yesterday, I was sharing the opening poem of BookSpeak! and how it came to be the opening poem. Well, last week was my birthday, and Randy, my husband, and I were spending a few days up on the North Shore of Lake Superior–one of my favorite places in the whole world! We had just parked the car, and Ran said, “OK, I’m going to give you an early birthday present.” He led me to the front of the car and said, “Notice anything different?” Ack! Now I know how people feel when their partner spins around and smiles and says, “Notice anything different?” And you’re thinking, “No.…” But then, finally, I realized that we had new frames around the license plates. Look what Randy did!
He put the opening quatrain of “Calling All Readers” on our car! He wanted something with a travel theme for Byron (our car) and had looked through all my poetry books when he finally happened on the opening poem of BookSpeak! Isn’t that cool? I’d much rather travel in a book than in a car, but now I’ll be able to sort of do both at the same time. Makes those trips to Target or the donut shop much more exotic;>)

What a thoughtful gift!
What fun!
What a great idea! Pats on the back to a great guy. What a great way to display your love of poetry and good literature.
Great husband!!
Laura, what a wonderful gift. Your husband is very creative and supportive. It sounds to me as if you had a perfect birthday!
Very cool!
Wonderful & thoughtful, Laura. Now I wonder if anyone will notice & ask you about them?
That has to be one of the most thoughtful gifts! Thanks for sharing.
That is THE BEST!
Wow. I love it. That is even better than what I thought it would be: a new license plate with something dear to you on it. What a thoughtful guy. So Glad you had a terrific birthday and can now drive in your own poem. Byron? (that was my dad’s name). lol
Thanks, you guys! I have to agree–I have the best husband ever:>) Couldn’t ask for someone more supportive of what I do.
I quite impressed with your husband’s ingenuity and creativity. Really he could market these. I’d be first in line.
Awesome. 🙂
