Whee! I’m excited to be in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, this week to celebrate books and reading and writing and students! And, importantly, my luggage is finally here with me.
I’ve gotten a lovely welcome from Principal Morey and his family, and I’ve even been to the school to see the wonderful media center–check out the sign above, created by Kim Doele and her Poetry Club. Isn’t that awesome? There were also some Can Be… student books on display that are just terrific.
Today, I’m doing some interactive reading with all grade levels, and the kindergarten classes and I will be writing some group poems about love and friendship. I hope to share those with you later today or tomorrow.

What a warm welcome! Hooray!
If I ever stop teaching, I want to do this. How fun to pop into a class and do such wonderful writing and lifting their hearts. Yay!
Kindergartners are wonderful poets. I never know what will come out of their minds and mouths next!
I’m waving from down the road (well, about 50 miles down the road.) Have a wonderful week!
Hi Buffy! Petoskey stone lady :>)
Looks like a very good week, Laura. Those lines from the kindies are “lovable”. They are so thoughtful and caring.
They are! Thanks, Linda:>)
