I Skyped with Leigh Anne Eck’s 4th- and 5th-grade students recently as part of their SPARK Camp. The students had been writing wordplay poems based on the lesson plan I shared here.
Besides talking with them a bit about where my ideas come from and what my writing process looks like, I also got to hear some students read their work. I LOVE that part of Skyping–hearing the creative poems that students make is one of my favorite things. And best of all, Leigh Anne shared them online in a very cool gallery. Just visit her blog post to see a few student creations (or go straight to the complete poem gallery here!
Thank you, Leeanne, for letting me visit SPARK Camp!

How exciting and fun. This sounds like a great camp experience. You are helping nurture many young poets. Awesome!
Thanks, Linda–it is always fun to talk with young writers.

This is really great that you & Leigh Anne hooked up, Laura. I’m sure the students loved writing with you!
Thanks, Linda. We didn’t actually write together (though that would have been fun!). But we did share work:>)
