Two poem sales to magazines

May 12, 2010 By Laura

I’m so excited! I’ve had welcome news about two poems recently.

One poem, "Jaguar," which I sold to Spider Magazine almost exactly two years ago, has been scheduled for their Nov/Dec issue. An artist is working on the illustration, and I can’t wait to see how it comes out! (Spider currently has a shout-out about one of my nonfiction books up on their website, too!)

And Highlights has bought a back-to-school poem from me. No guess at all on when that will appear, but this happy news has me humming and smiling!

I don’t submit poems to magazines very often. There are few markets and intense competition. Every once in while (perhaps once or twice a year), I’ll send out a batch and then receive a batch of rejections following that. It’s really fun to know my first magazine poem will be appearing before the end of 2010!

JANUARY NEWS

I loved the holidays! And I'm so glad they're over. A quiet, snowy January is just what I need. This month, I'm working on two board book manuscripts, and I'm making materials to go with my 3 spring 2023 books.

I'm also busy prepping for upcoming author visits and setting my goals and priorities for 2023. Wishing you a lovely start to your own new year!
