Stampede Is a Finalist for the Minnesota Book Award!

February 1, 2010 By Laura

Exciting news over the weekend. I got home from a game night Saturday night to find a congratulations email from Joyce Sidman–for
Stampede‘s choice as a finalist for the Minnesota Book Awards! The other three finalists in this category are Joyce herself, Alison McGhee, and Marion Dane Bauer. Wow. I’m in unbelievable company!

I clicked several times throughout the day to make sure there wasn’t some mistake, and Stampede kept being on the list, so I’m starting to think it’s real. Yippee!

And the major outpouring of good wishes on Facebook all day yesterday just really made my weekend. I’m in the midst of a stressful few weeks, workwise, so this great news feels a little unreal–but in a good way! As I was pounding away on a deadline alternating with cleaning out the basement, it was a lovely sound to hear my phone notify me of another Comment, each one bringing such nice congrats and support. Thanks, you guys!

OK, back under my rock for more work!
