One thing first: Tonight’s the night! I’m hosting one more Write Alone Together: today, Wed, Mar 10 at 6pm Central Time, for one hour. Click the image for the free registration page. Feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested!
Now…on to Classroom Connections!
All around, you can find signs of animals getting ready for a new year. They’re building nests or repairing damage to last year’s dams. Most homes could use a good spring cleaning after a long winter! Here’s a cool STEM activity from the teaching guide for Meet My Family: Build a Beaver Dam! The guide is by Tami Parker, MLIS.
This is just the first page. Click for the .pdf, and you’ll want to print out pages 4-6 for your students to do this project!
Also, there’s a read-aloud for this book. Just go to my Readalouds Page and scroll down to watch a video of my friend Flash reading the book aloud.
Happy building, everyone!
[My Classroom Connections posts share a way to connect one of my books or poems to a classroom topic–often something timely that you might be covering in the next month or so. Please share this post if you have educator friends who might be interested–thanks!]
