Our local minor league baseball team, the St. Paul Saints, teams up with Mackin Education all summer long with a volunteer author reading a book at every Sunday home game. One day last month, I was the Reading Tree reader, and I shared Zap! Clap! Boom! The Story of a Thunderstorm. It was cloudy all morning, and a game had been rained out the day before, and I was a bit worried about bringing the actual storm! But the sun came out, all went fine, and I sat out in right field and read my book to some young baseball fans (and handed out lightning bolt tattoos). And then a Saints player also talked with the kids about the importance of reading. Very cool. Thank you, Saints and Mackin, for encouraging readers!
If you’d like to share Zap!, check out my book page for some extras!
