[my writing life] John Burroughs Riverby Award

It’s been a feast of good news lately, and I’m incredibly grateful. I learned a couple of weeks ago that A Leaf Can Be… has been awarded the John Burroughs Riverby Award for excellent natural history books for young readers! You can see all five winning books here! I’ve eaten cupcakes and brownies in celebration of various exciting book news items recently. Who knew A Book Can Be… fattening?

  1. You are taking center stage here! Are you going to the luncheon in NYC? I hope you do. Many many congratulations. Will you be signing books at IRA? What a fabulous honor and in such good company. AND so well-deserved. I loved the heart book display and the green loveliness of your book shining out at us!

    1. Thanks, Janet. No, I can’t afford to fly to NYC for a luncheon. So I’ll just be excited from afar:>) I’m not going to be at IRA–too bad, because I loved San Antonio when I went there for TLA. But I might possibly be at ALA, and I will definitely be at NCTE. Thanks for all your kind words!

      1. Can’t we put a plane ticket request on Donor’s Choose??? I can imagine April 1 in NYC could be very spring-like! We should all toast you at noon with a delicious cupcake (or two) and our beverage of choice, nonetheless!!!

    1. Thanks, ellie. It’s been a wild month–I’m sure it will calm down lots now. It’s odd not having a book coming out in 2013–nothing to pin my crazy hopes on!
