I recently wrote a poem called “2 Kinds of Cats,” comparing a housecat and a tiger. I wrote this poem on assignment, for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, and they wanted something that could be used in their magazine for 1st-graders. Here’s the first half:

This poem appears in Wonderfully Wild, the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s outreach magazine for kids.
You can read the whole poem in the magazine, which is online right now (scroll down to page 9 of the magazine). And as a side note, if you’re a lover of wild animals, don’t miss Counting Lions, a stunning new picture book from Candlewick. Just lovely. The Four Tigers page is what reminded me to share my poem today!
Laura,
I love the tiger uniform line. What a worthy cause. Good for you!
Thank you, Linda. Always fun to hear which line stands out for folks!
As Linda, I really like the tiger uniform!
Thanks, Donna:>)
