crumpled index cards
abandoned confetti scraps
after the awards

I’m jotting a couple of notes on an index card for the Minnesota Book Awards banquet. I don’t expect BookSpeak! to win, but when Stampede was a Finalist, I panicked when they started the announcements, because I had been sure I wouldn’t win and so had absolutely nothing in mind to say. And I didn’t win, so it was fine. But that panic made me feel almost sick for the next hour, which I don’t care to repeat. This time, I’m writing down a couple of reminders on a card, and I was just picturing all the finalists whose books don’t win ditching their useless notes under the table after the announcements. Not that I would litter, but I like the image of it:>)

Hm-m-disappointment I think. I love that word ‘crumpled’ Laura. Brings up all kinds of feelings to me. Nice haiku for today, cloudy, not much of interest going on. Thanks!
Thanks, Linda. I love reading poems when I’m in particular moods. I seem to either find the right poems for that day or else my mood just colors all the poems for me. I’m not always sure which. This was definitely a disappointed haiku, though:>)

Hope your card gets used!
It did! I can’t believe it! I will save my little nervously folded, smudged index card:>)
