Happy Poetry Friday! (Wondering what Poetry Friday is? Click here.)
Janet Wong and Sylvia Vardell have done it again, creating another poetry anthology perfect for educators to use to grow readers who are excited about poetry. Great Morning! (Pomelo Books, 2018; hear a sample read here) is a wonderful selection of poems meant for school leaders to read during the morning announcements. I’m proud to have a poem in this one called, “On Your Way to School.”
And for loads of great poetry, don’t miss the Poetry Friday Roundup with poet-educator Catherine Flynn at Reading to the Core!
NOTE: We are moving on Monday, and although I will read every comment, I don’t know how much I’ll be able to reply to comments this week or next.
Love your poem. I look forward to reading more from the collection.

Your poem shouts a wonderful welcome to all, Laura. Best, best wishes for a pleasant move. Though lots of work, sometimes bittersweet, I hope you enjoy finding new places to love in your new home and neighborhood.

I’m with JoAnn, the positive feel of this poem is great…and reassuring. Every kid wants to have this kind of start to school each day. This is a wonderful poem for this anthology! I’m really looking forward to giving a copy to my admin team.
Best of luck with your move! I cannot imagine moving right now. More power to ya!
