I’ve missed you guys! It feels so good to be back for Poetry Friday here at my new blog! I’m sharing a quick first draft I just wrote upon reading articles about Voyager One, which scientists say has left our solar system and will travel 40,000 more years to reach the nearest star. Amazing!
Voyager 1 sails
out of our solar system
on empty, dark seas

Love it, Laura and how exciting to be travelling alone on such an important quest.
Excellent point, Catherine. In life, who we travel with matters so much, but some of those most crucial journeys really happen all alone…
Oh so deep Laura and true.

Just imagine the poems Voyager could write!!! Good to have you back at Poetry Friday, Laura. 🙂
Oooh, what a fabulous idea for a poetry collection, Michelle!
Hmmm… I might actually take this on with my astronomer husband. Thanks for the idea!

Welcome back, Laura! The sheer vastness of this universe is just impossible to comprehend…“empty, dark seas” indeed.
Thanks, Tara. Can you even imagine a journey of 40,000 more years. Definitely boggles my brain.

The vision of the universe as ’empty dark seas’ is so apt. One can drown in there. Welcome back, Laura! 🙂
Thanks, Myra! Happy to be here.

Back with a splash! I love how you convey so much in a short form. Magic!
Thanks, Keri! I feel like I should have packed more in, but…what can I expect in 5 minutes or less?

Happy return, Laura! In so few words you’ve captured the moment of this historic happening. =)
Thanks, Bridget–it’s an awesome thing to consider, isn’t it? PS I sent out COWBOY UP to you last week. No note, because it was media mail. But you should get it this week:>)
