Happy Hannukah to everyone celebrating!
This week, I’m going to be sharing poetryactions. Quick poems written in reaction to picture books. I hope you like them!
My house feels a little like The Nut House right now, mostly because of holiday stuff and book stuff. It’s all good and cheerful! But a little bit crazy:>)
At bedtime in Eric Litwin’s Bedtime at the Nut House, the little nuts aren’t following directions, and Mama has to resort to the LOOK. Every parent has it. Every teacher has it. Every kid recognizes it. I decided to play with and exaggerate the effects of THE LOOK in my poetryaction. Note: The Look is a permanent fixture once you have it. I haven’t been a classroom teacher for a long time, but I still make good use of The Look every once in a while:>)
Please check out my Pinterest boards of poetryactions and bookalikes if you’d like to see more.
Also, teachers, if you are or you dream of being a writer, too, but you’re having trouble making time for writing, you might be interested in The Writer’s Resolution January Group. It’s an inexpensive, monthlong accountability group to help us start our writing of 2016 with a bang! I’d love to have some teachers in the group!

Love your visuals here! This book sounds like a fun one. Thanks for your Poetryaction posts.
Glad you enjoy them, Linda!
Laura, I love your blog posts and the ABC book Jingle Jingle Jingle recently featured (right hand side of blog post) interested me as I volunteer in a kindergarten class. How do I go about ordering it?
Thanks, Sue! If you click on the picture of the book and go to this post: https://laurasalas.com/nonfiction-books-for-kids/my-signed-nonfiction-books-are-on-sale/ you’ll see you can either go to Amazon and order it or just contact me directly at https://laurasalas.com/contact/ I’m selling it for $13 shipped (media mail) or $15 (priority mail). And of course I’m happy to sign it to a person, individual class, etc. THanks for asking :>)
