I was the guest author for an online Author Access Event yesterday with Sarah Mackenzie. I had an awesome time talking with Sarah and fielding questions from homeschooling families who were taking part in the livestream event. That video series is part of a paid members-only portion of the site, but I wanted to share the entire website, if you’ve never heard of it. Sarah has created a really cool space with tons of resources. Her main audience is homeschoolers, and she is a homeschooling parent herself. She’s a vivacious, voracious, enthusiastic reader who shares an enormous amount of book love! Her Read-Aloud Revival podcast covers all sorts of great topics, like the research behind reading aloud, reading history, reading with boys, reading Shakespeare, reading with kids with special needs–all sorts of cool stuff. The podcast is public and free, and I think there’s lots there for classroom teachers to love and learn from, too. Ditto for her blog.
Here’s a clip of my answering a question about the author/illustrator relationship. The kids had lots of interesting questions:>) And I apparently have a lot of interesting facial expressions. Enjoy!
