Hello, and welcome! This is 15 Words or Less Poems, a low-pressure way to wake up your poetry brain (guidelines here), and I’m very glad you’re here.
I was walking Jack the other day and came across this one small mushroom in a huge open field that’s part of a park near my house. With this filter on it, it practically looks like a cardboard cutout. So smooth. So simple. This image makes me think of several things:
- The gumdrops in Mom and Dad’s gumdrop jar–the white ones are OK, though I prefer the citrus and the black licorice ones
- A cloche (1920s style hat) I wore to a mystery dinner one time. Um, I pretty much looked like a gumdrop in that hat. Not a good look on me.
- H.R. Pufnstuf
And here’s my first draft. (Do you ever talk to your clothes or other inanimate objects? I do.)
It’s your turn! Have fun and stick to 15 WORDS OR LESS! (Title doesn’t count toward word count)
